How comes womens skirt get shorter in tennis games and mens shorts don't?

Short skirt or tighter shorts are an increasing trend amongst respected sports women for increasing improve agility and speed in the playing of tennis but why do the Male sports players do the same? I do not think many females sports fans would mind getting a nice view of Nadal and Federer? specially to see good quality tennis at its best.

I would never wear tight short shorts. I’d rather play in my boxers. That era has past.

I actually think that having shorter, tighter shorts on restricts your movement and is very uncomfortable. Shorts that reach just down to your knee or perhaps a bit above are the most comfortable because they allow regular flexibility without feeling like your legs, buttocks, or other areas are being pinched. Higher skirts on women increase flexibility because their legs are able to spread wider with less resistance; however, with shorts, there’s an inside to each leg, it’s not open in the middle like skirts, so it’s really no different. As long as an athlete’s shorts are above their knees when they bend their legs (Or are just very forgiving, like Nadal’s borderline 3/4 length pants that he used to wear), the shorts should be just as flexible as if they were wearing booty shorts. It only matters that you can bend at your joints. I suppose the only thing that really could make shorter/tighter shorts faster is less wind resistance, but that would be a tiny bit of difference.

The other big thing about tight shorts that I hate is that it’s much easier to get a wedgie from them. Tighter shorts/pants are much more likely to ride up into a man’s important parts as well as his butt. Just look at Rafa. He probably wears the tightest pants/capris/shorts on tour, probably honestly to show off his butt, just like you implied, and look at how he picks his pants out of his butt every point lol.

But yeah, in my opinion, shorter/tighter shorts wouldn’t really help men in the game at all and would just cause discomfort which, in a game that is probably at least 95% mental, can be the difference between winning and losing. I mean, for me, if there’s one little thing that’s off when I go to serve it might be the difference between an ace or a double fault. And I would definitely count being self-conscious about having a wedgie to show off to everyone behind me or feeling certain sensitive body parts being pinched uncomfortable as being "one little thing that’s off."

i think the tight, short shorts may comeback someday for men’s tennis. in the 70’s during men’s tennis golden years, all the major stars like Borg, Vilas, McEnroe etc wore those tight short tennis shorts.
tennis players are generally well-built (with a few exceptions), they should have no problem show more legs, but it is the trend, the fashion thing – it comes around goes around. Just like the NBA – have you seen those shorts in the past?

They cut a lot of fabric from women’s skirts and sewed it into the men’s short shorts to make them longer, hence the difference. Sometimes, the women’s sleeves are also ripped off to make the bandanas that Federer, Nadal, Gonzales and Bagdatis wear.
