Most likely not within our lifetimes.

There is not enough talent yet.

There would be too much bloodshed to be aired on television.

    That would be interesting though.

Mixed Martial Arts? I’ll be honest with you. I have watched a lot of men’s MMA fights, but I have never seen a women’s MMA fight. I’ve never even known that there was a women’s MMA. I don’t think it will become popular at all in the next few years, because no one has ever even heard of it.

Probably not as big, though it certainly has room to grow. There are fewer women than men in combat sports in general, meaning the talent pool isn’t as big. There’s also the issue of society in general looking at fighting as "unfeminine". However, with a few noteworthy stars, they should be getting the attention they deserve. I’d like to see competitive matches being included in regular fight cards. In Japan, there have already been two all-female MMA shows, though one is now defunct.

no it wont, mainly because there arent enough women in the UFC or strikeforce to make the sport bigger. I only say those 2 companies because they are the biggest main stream wise in america. Also keep in mind there will always be the people who dont view women as real fighters, and dont think they should be in the cage anway. Not my opinion, but it is how a lot of people think.

    There’s MMA for women?

They don’t have enough talent at the moment. There are probably 100+ legit female fighters as opposed to 5,000+ legit male fighters. Another factor is parents putting their sons in martial arts whether wrestling, karate, bjj as opposed to daughters.

no because there simply aren’t enough women fighters out there.

I agree with much of what was said by other users.

I think though that a big part of the problem may be some close mindedness on the part of the owners of larger name organizations. I’m fairly sure that Dana White has said time and time before that there will not be any female fights in the UFC at all, so long as he has a say.

I think those organizations that may do female fights, don’t focus on it like they do male fights. That’s not to say that they’re being sexist on the matter, sometimes it truly is just that there isn’t enough high tier female talent to have multiple female fights in the big show. The fight organizers would rather run more male fights than have low class/low skill female fights, just for the sake of running more female fights.

Hopefully as time goes on, we’ll see more women getting into mixed martial arts, especially at the higher levels of competition.

Funny side note, I was actually thinking about this just this morning. Was considering posting a question very similar to this one, even. But, then time got away from me and I got preoccupied and forgot all about it until I seen you post it.

Is there women’s MMA still? I only heard of the one woman….something like…Gina Cyborg Cerreno or something like that. But I think she retired last year.
