Anyone in the U.S. get tired of the non-stop coverage of the Williams Sisters?

I get it, they’re American and dominate womens tennis with line drives and world record serves. But they are extremely boring and hardly ever have to battle it out.
Serena just stands there swinging away, Venus screams and hits some volleys.
I mean why does ESPN have to show me all their single’s and double’s matches?
There’s plenty of other lower ranked players full of emotion and all court skills I would rather see.
Anyone else feel this way??
I hate to say it but when are they going to retire?
If you dont know who Serena and Venus Williams are, please for Gods sake don’t answer, thanks.

In America tennis isnt big so espn2 shows a little of the slams, and the optional tennis channel shows repeats and a few slam matches. I don’t have many options as my internet is too slow to stream any video.
They only showed a minute of the serena/venus doubles match because it only lasted a minute. It looked like men played little girls. I have never heard of the sisters paying players to retire or tank, but it’s possible, they got the money. I don’t think thats really the case as all these women now are putting on so much muscle just to compete with them. I can’t wait to see some real tennis on the television when they retire. And I’m not talking about sharapova. I’m glad the Belgians are back, womens tennis needs them severely.

    henin survived a scare being down 6 – 3, 1 – 3 turned it on and won 3 – 6, 6 – 4, 6 – 2
and mary carillo is doing tooo much talk about serena and the US OPEN blah blah about the fines an how serena thinks she was punished too harshly, etc.. and how venus needs to come to the net more, etc..

No it doesn’t bother me because I have a TV that allows me to change the channels to see what else is on.And besides I haven’t heard all that much about them.

Sounds like some body is a little green with envy.

Well its better then channel 7 coverage of the tennis. They show matches who players are 80th vs 90th in the world with like lots of unforced errors and not entertaining at all just because their Australian. I rather watch the williams sister matches. Seriously watching Bernard Tomic etc makes me wanna go to sleep.

The answer is obvious. It’s because they’re american and the network coverage is american. Just watch the broadcasts from international networks, and it is totally superior and about real tennis and about wanting to show the best talent and great matches (which the sisters don’t possess). However, it is also because of what people across the world have been saying for years now, and that is how the USTA and the Williams camp actually buy major tournaments (especially Wimbledon) and even pay off players to either retire, tank a match or lose, so that the sisters continue "winning", there are no other american girls close to the top 20, and so the USA can continue to be "no. 1". Very sad mentality.

I’m a fan of both so no. As someone mentioned, it’s an American network so they cover the American’s more. I mean, there were several top men playing during John Isner and yet they chose to show more of Isner’s match. They only showed like five minutes, ten minutes tops of Serena / Venus when they won the doubles second round match.

Yes, every match is the same.

They either kill someone or lose to someone and blame it on an injury.

Never exciting unless they are threatening someones life.

I know. If it is a good match, like someone kicking there a** then yeah show it, but the other matches that will be good match up’s should be shown. Unfortunately this is what happens but i’m looking forward to them being threatened and hopefully being taught a lesson!

It’s the same here in Australia, I’m so pissed of when all they show is Stosur, Dokic, Tomic and Hewitt. I am sick of seeing Hewitt’s replay matches, when I know there are other matches people want to see too.

So you’re not alone and I’m getting sick of all this too. Good thing 7, adjusted it a little bit this year, but there’s till the replays that annoy me.
