Is Henin making Womens Tennis look bad?
What I mean by this is…. after a long leave of absence… she comes back and just trounces the opposition all the way to the final.
Do you think the fact someone out of the game for so long, can actually do this, makes the women’s game look weak?
If the regular players cant dispatch a match-starved star from several years ago…. what does that say about the intensity of their game?
I didn’t attack her, I said was she a reflection on the female game, duh, anyone could see that.
Whilst we are on the subject though, I believe she is utterly dull and have never liked her style. Her slice backhand drives me nuts.

Anyone in the U.S. get tired of the non-stop coverage of the Williams Sisters?
I get it, they’re American and dominate womens tennis with line drives and world record serves. But they are extremely boring and hardly ever have to battle it out.
Serena just stands there swinging away, Venus screams and hits some volleys.
I mean why does ESPN have to show me all their single’s and double’s matches?
There’s plenty of other lower ranked players full of emotion and all court skills I would rather see.
Anyone else feel this way??
I hate to say it but when are they going to retire?

In America tennis isnt big so espn2 shows a little of the slams, and the optional tennis channel shows repeats and a few slam matches. I don’t have many options as my internet is too slow to stream any video.
They only showed a minute of the serena/venus doubles match because it only lasted a minute. It looked like men played little girls. I have never heard of the sisters paying players to retire or tank, but it’s possible, they got the money. I don’t think thats really the case as all these women now are putting on so much muscle just to compete with them. I can’t wait to see some real tennis on the television when they retire. And I’m not talking about sharapova. I’m glad the Belgians are back, womens tennis needs them severely.
Can someone tell me how you can write to ESPN about their tennis coverage?
I did not get to see the Henin/Dementieva match LIVE so I watched the replay. Now I cannot believe the nonsense that I just saw on ESPN and I want to write them and give them a piece of my mind!!! First, ever since the draw came out everyone have been talking up this Henin/Dementieva possible match up and when they both won their first round matches the commentators were rating up this match-up big time. I mean heck even the organizers knew how big of a match this was seeing that they feature this match in PRIMETIME and on the Main stadium ie. Rod Laver Arena.
Now I am watching it and the entire second set of this match was not given any Television coverage on ESPN as these idiots chose to show the Blake/Del Potro match. I just don’t understand why womens tennis continues to get this much disrespect and no one seems to give a damn about it. That Blake/Del Potro match – sure it was good but c’mon people at the end of the tournament no one is going to even remember that match. And yet there was Mary Carillo already proclaiming at the end of the Henin/Dementieva match that this was the BEST women’s match we are going to see at this years Aus Open!!!
What can womens tennis do help its poor ratings?
I’m a huge tennis fan and try to watch as much of it as I can but many times it’s never on TV. They always have mens tennis matches but never womens tennis. The news said that womens tennis was getting low ratings and getting worse. They are getting payed almost as much as men yet their ratings are far below mens rating.
Womens tennis, Equal pay and 5 set matches?
I know Venus Williams fought real hard for women to get equal pay. I find it bizarre that during that time no one brought up the fact that women dont play as much tennis! how can you pay girls the same amount for less time on court. whats the deal???!!!

Im a big tennis fan, but its been bugging me for many years about the fact that the broadcasters of tennis seem to think the media want to see woman’s matches over men’s. I honestly cant stand womens tennis anymore, They all play the same, hit the same and grunt the same and are allergic to hitting the ball with any power. Im just wondering, do broadcasters such as channel 7 think the viewers want to see seeded women’s matches over mens.
Today on 7, they showed sam stosurs match followed by serena williams when they could of been showing any number of seeded mens matches? Do they think people like watching womens tennis? and do you think that hypothetically if there was media backlash, would channel 7 show only mens matches of the australian open for one day???
