Whats with the equal prize money at wimbledon? i dont mean to be sexist but surely equal pay for equal work?
LIke womens matches only go for 3 sets, mens go for five, if i was a male competitor id be really angry. they play less tennis, so why do they deserve the same money as the men who play longer?
Well tennis is a job right, for them. why should they be different from any other profession? u get payed for the amount of you time you work, and womens matches go shorter then mens, its a fact.

I woke up soo early to watch……Today show…… however the sport guy from today show said that womens final is 11 am today (monday) meaning i cant watch since i got schoool. What about mens final? I live in perth btw, can anyone tell me what time the mens final is?

I say roddick,sharapova will only win Wimbledon this year
tsonga,serena williams for the U.S. open
and federer,kuznetsova for the French open
Akesher, I like how you picked the obvious favorites, Roddick has cam very close to winning wimbledon in the past, usaually only stopped by the great federer in the finals and has a good chance in the U.S open
I think federer will finally beat the king of clay but djokovic will be the new number 2 problem. Kuznetsova will finally win a final that shes in and deserves. Roddick will hold serve and will be a more complete tennis player and win on grass, though federer is dominating I think he will lose early in the tourny to djokovic or tsonga thus eliminating roddick biggest threat on grass. Sharapova, why not, venus will be a close second at wimbledon, tsonga will woop more a** on the hardcourt and serena will show up to the slam and do what she does. Henin will do well but will lose in the french final this year, but will keep #1 ranking no doubt. I just dont think the two female serb's will win any slams this year, but they will go far
It's funny how everyone doubts roddick, he has beaten everyone in the top 10, except federer, if federer wasnt htere he would have 1 another usopen and 2 wimbledons but federer is the road block, as long as he doesnt have federer in a tournament he can win it especially if his serve is on. The only tourny for him that is close to impossible is the french. So far federer is winless, djokovic is on a roll, and nadal is closing in. And a guy named Wilfried Tsonga is complicating things.
Horrible Chokes or Spectacular Comebacks?
Just wanted to get your opinions on two of the most infamous matches in womens' tennis history:
1993 French Open Quarterfinal: Mary Joe Fernandez d. Gabriela Sabatini 1-6, 7-6, 10-8.
After cruising to a 6-1, 5-1 lead, Sabatini seemed poised for victory. However, Mary Jo stepped up her game, and turned the tables on Sabatini. In the 2nd set, Sabatini held 5 match points, but Mary Jo saved all 5 before winning a second set tiebreak. In the 3rd set, both players had difficulty holding serve. Sabatini broke Mary Jo to go up 7-6, but Mary Jo would break back to even the set at 7 games apiece. At 8-8 in the decisive set, Mary Jo held serve to go up 9-8. On match point, Mary Joe dispatched Sabatini with a down the line winner past a stunned Sabatini. This epic match lasted just over 3 and a half hours!.
1993 Wimbledon Final: Steffi Graf d. Jana Novotna 6-7, 6-1, 6-4.
After Jana won a tight 1st set, Steffi raised the level of her game in the 2nd set to even the match at 1 set each. As the 3rd set progressed, Jana played some of her best tennis ever to jump out to a 4-1, 40-15 lead. However, Jana started to tighten up, as Steffi climbed back in the match. In the end, Steffi won the next 5 games to capture the title, dashing Jana's dreams in the process.
Compare these 2 matches, and tell me if these were tremendous comebacks by Mary Joe and Steffi, or terrible chokes by Sabatini and Jana?. And what made you reach your conclusions?.
Why in the he** did Justine Henin retire?
She's #1 in the world by a huge margin, she was 5' 6'' woopin up on everybody.The Federer of womens tennis. Shes only 25 years old, and the french is coming up. Now it seems Sharapova will once again be number one like she was when Henin took a short break before. Will she come back like Hingis did?
I wish little Patty Schnyder could take her place. First Hingis now Henin, who's next? Yeah you know in a few months shes gonna regret it and really see how boring and slow life is when shes not on tour. Tennis players think theyre missing out on all this "crazy and wild" stuff that us normal people do, which is really the complete opposite. I do respect her for dominating womens tennis for the past few years only serena and maybe sharapova could touch her. That backhand was Federesque. I'ts crazy how she wanted to be taken off the rankings immediately, doesnt make sense to me. Now Sharapova is # 1 without Henin there, if Henin was still playing she would never have the chance. Anyway if she was getting married or having a child I would understand, It sucks though because if she comes back she kinda loses that edge, like davenport and hingis had. I'm 25 and can't understand why people keep retiring so young these days, mostly the women, but the men are still out there bustin their back
I think Clijsters retiring and having a baby got to her, but I'm pretty sure she'll be back when she finds out how boring life can be, and you can't just turn the competitive side off. Everytime she watches tennis they'll be talking about what if Justine did this and that, and she'll get the itch. Anyway with her out of the way the #1 spot is now wide open, too bad the top 5 will always be full of hard hitting baseliners, I like crafty counterpunchers better myself over power.

Well after he wins Hamburg, knock on wood. And for womens tennis, I will go with Serena if she's not injured or Sharapova if she is, though I would like to see schnyder or kuznetsova win it.
Well nadal beat djokovic in hamburg, and hes not at his top form so that says a lot. Federer is once again dominating this tournament in straight sets, so I he'll win against nadal in hamburg, and He is almost always in top form with hardly any injuries other than mono , so I really think he cant be stopped at the french this, we'll see. Serenas back is a little tweaked and sharapovas leg is strained, but theyre fighters and they'll be atleast in the quarters in my opinion though now it's looking like ivanovic, jankovic and kuznetsova got a good chance now, since kuzy never wins finals, I will go with Jankovic or maybe even a newcomer like rodwanska or azarenka. I think the womens side is wide open now.
Im still going with federer, he had two sets in his pocket against nadal. He looked like a man amongst boys, he just somehow mentally lost it and let nadal win. the match was so rediculous I still cant believe federer could play so flawlessly most of the match and then give it all away. He will get nadal next time for sure.
Diff. between men and women in Tennis?
Im not really a fan of the sport. I do occasionally watch it though. Anyway, I couldn't help but notice the difference between a mens match and the womens.
The balls zips across the court quite a bit faster. The guys are also more athletic. The mens game somehow seems more aggressive and fast paced to me.
I could be completely wrong though.
